Marko Meštrović’s animated short film ‘How’ has been named a finalist at the Bang Awards – International Animation Film Festival in Portugal, in the Best screenplay category. The film is among the finalists selected from more than 3000 films submitted from 122 countries. This year’s winners will be chosen by an international jury and announced on 26 September during the Awards Ceremony in Torres Vedras.
‘How’ is an animated film created through drawing on paper. Moving between reality and subtle poetic forms, in 8 minutes and 47 seconds surreal scenes and striking paradoxes reveal endless loops of existence. Marko Meštrović wrote, directed, drew, animated and edited the film. Sound design and mix are by Hrvoje Nikšić. Martina Meštrović and Marijana Veljović are the executive producers, with Igor Grubić as producer. The film is distributed by Bonobostudio. An animator, director and illustrator, Meštrović’s films have been screened and awarded at numerous festivals in Croatia and internationally. ‘How’ has already received a number of awards and special mentions at international festivals, including the Special Award at Animafest Zagreb, Best Balkan Film at Anibar International Animation Festival, Special Mention at Supertoon, Best Experimental Film at Animaphix, Special Mention at Flipbook Film Festival, Special Mention at Primanima, Special Mention from ASIFA Croatia, Special Mention at the Paris International Animation Film Festival, and Best Short Animated Film at Vrboska Film Festival. The Bang Awards Festival takes place from 25 to 27 September in Torres Vedras, Portugal, with the winners announced on 26 September.
